Lease, indented, by Sir Richard Brooke of Norton, Cheshire, baronet, to William Clotton of Runcorn [Runckhorne], Cheshire, yeoman, of a messuage or tenement in Acton Grange, Cheshire, for the term of the life of William Clotton, Margaret Clotton, his sister, or Hannah Meriman, daughter of John Meriman, at the annual rent of 10s and other annual services, in consideration of £100 paid cash down and another £40 12s which remains to be paid as per a bond of 8 February last. With appointment of James Ashton and Edward Hatton, both of Acton Grange, as the attorneys of Sir Richard Brooke. Signature and seal of Richard Brooke. Witnesses:- Nathaniel Cudray; Thomas Woodfall; John Hale; John Astley.
Endorsed:- (1) memoranda concerning the livery of seisin by Ashton and Hatton in the presence of William Harrison and John Dunbabin; (2) memoranda that Sir Richard promised to uphold this agreement to William Clotton and his heirs before its sealing for seven years provided Clotton pays the outstanding £40 12s as per his bond, which he covenanted to pay before 25 July next, in the presence of Nathaniel Cudray, Thomas Woodfall, John Hale, and John Astley.
