Folios 386-387: Josceline Percy, HMS Hotspur, Plymouth.
Explains his proceedings between May and August 1815 in accordance with orders from Vice Admiral Dixon to offer protection to British merchants and ships off the east coast of South America in view of an expected Spanish attack on the Portuguese colony there. Encloses a document from British merchants.
Folios 388-389: enclosures with folios 386-387. Part 1 [2 of 6 pages] letter from British merchants based in Buenos Ayres, dated 18 June 1815.
Folios 390-391: enclosures with folios 386-387. Part 2 [4 of 6 pages] letter from British merchants based in Buenos Ayres, dated 18 June 1815.
In response to Captain Percy's announced intention of departing on 20 June 1815 a very detailed argument is made to request that protection is not withdrawn at this point. Signitaries to document: George Dyson, John McNeil. James Brittain, Henry B. Sewell, John Nightingale, Willliam Franklin, [Oliver?] James, James Ashcroft, R. Montgomery, John Miller, Joseph Badger, Thomas Fair, William Cracken, Thomas Nelson, James Boyle, Thomas Newton, G. Crochran, Benjamin Hatton, Phillip Parkins, J. McFarline, D. Campbell, James Black, James Watson, Samuel Sykes, Crispin Wilkinson, Henry Corley and Co., Brown Buchanan and Co. [He remained until 22 July].
