Printed prize appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.
Captured ship: Catharina Maria (master Morten Hendrick Romdahl).
Nationality: Danish.
History: bound from Batavia and Isle de France [Mauritius] to Copenhagen, laden with sugar, coffee, indigo and tottenack [? totonac, Mexican vanilla], cotton and sappan wood; taken on 1 December 1799 by HMS Dictator (John Oakes Hardy commanding), and brought into Cork.
Appellant: John Taylor, partner of Messrs Boehm and Co merchants of London for the ship and cargo, on behalf of Messrs Bugel and Co and Messrs Cramer and Sons merchants of Copenhagen; and A F Gebauer director of the Bank of Altona; and A M Fidalgo banker of Altona, all Danish subjects.
Respondent: The captor.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 June 1805 (folios 253-303) [no folio 278].
Decision: against the appeal; affirmed that appellant condemned in costs of the appeal.
