Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of the Bahamas.
Captured ship: Essex (master Joseph Orne).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Salem, Massachusetts to Havana, laden with wine, soap, almonds, hazel nuts, paper, reaping hooks and dry goods; taken on 28 August 1800 by the privateer Favourite (Charles Underwood commanding), and brought into New Providence.
Appellant: The master on behalf of William Orne merchant.
Respondent: The captor.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 22 June 1805 (folios 242-249).
Decision: insufficient further proof, goods condemned as lawful prize.
