Folios 49-50. Duke of Newcastle, Hanover, to the Earl of Holderness that the King has appointed the Earl of Rothes in place of the late Earl of Dunmore as commander of the 3rd Regiment of Footguards and intends to appoint Sir John Ligonier as Governor of Plymouth [Devon] and Lord Delawarr [John West, 7th Baron De La Warr] as Governor of Guernsey. Instructions are to be given for the election by the Scottish peers of a peer of Scotland to serve in Parliament in place of the Earl of Dunmore, the [third] Earl of Breadalbane [John Campbell] being recommended by the King. Draft.
