Description

Folios 115-118. 'The Noblemen and Gentlemen in the neighbourhood of Henley upon Thames and the Mayor and principal magistrates of that town' to the Duke of Newcastle thanking him for his 'great readiness in promoting all proper measures for bringing to justice' Mary Blandy for the murder of her father [Francis Blandy] and that no efforts will be wanting on their part 'to render that prosecution successful, and to bring condign punishment not only on the unnatural daughter of that unhappy gentleman, but also the wicked contriver and instigator [William Henry Cranstoun] of this cruel design'. They also petition that steps be taken to apprehend Cranstoun now in a Scottish regiment in the service of the States General [of Holland]. Signed by [the Earl of] Macclesfield, [Earl] Cadogan, Tho [Thomas] Parker, John Freeman, Gism [sic] Cooper, Geo [George] Lane Parker, Sambrooke Freeman, Edwd [Edward] Pauncefort, James Lambden, William Stockwood, Francis Mason, Richard Miles, Edwd [Edward] Prassey, John Clarke and Tho [Thomas] Hall. With a copy and the Attorney-General's opinion as to how Cranstoun may be apprehended.
