Folio 129. Certificate of Mr Justice Foster for mitigation of sentence against Joseph Mayne, convicted of highway robbery on the person of William Clarke at the Surrey Assizes. While Mayne had no visible firearms showing when he robbed the coach carrying Clarke, his wife, and other female passengers; it is recommended that the court show mercy as he bahaved with decency throughout the robbery and his trial.
