Folios 80-84. Petition of merchants of the City of London engaged in the Italian trade, to the King, to secure the release of John Tomlinson, who had been granted Letters of Marque in 1746. Having been fitted out by the English merchant Lewis Blaquire to command the 'Tartar' privateer from Leghorn, and was active as Captain of vessels in the Mediterranean. Being imprisoned by the Court of Naples in 1749 after the taking of the 'St Thereza' merchantman as a prize, Michael Angelo Paone her master. With memorandum of actions taken by the Crown (namely the Admiralty Court of Mahon) in an attempt to secure Tomlinson's release.
