Folio 132. Petition of William James under sentence of death in Newgate for theft of a parcel of worsted hose from John Roberts who, together with the jury, recommended him for mercy and transportation for life. With a humble recommendation signed by the petitioner's wife, sister and ten jurors. The petitioner says his execution is ordered for 'Monday next 4th February'. Note [that day fell in 1751].
