Description

Licence, for 20 years, granted by Elizabeth I to Francis Bertie, naturally born a stranger in Antwerp in the obedience of King Philip, to exclusively practice the new trade of making white salt in the queen's dominions. This indenture reinforces an earlier agreement, made in July 1565, that the queen will ensure that no other person practices this new trade for the duration of the lease. Sealed by Bertie. 8 Eliz I
