Description

Grant by Thomas White of Old Sleaford (formerly of Holbeach), Lincolnshire, esq, to William Paulet, marquess of Winchester, Treasurer, and Sir Walter Mildmay, knight, chancellor of the Exchequer (on behalf of Elizabeth I), of the manors of Tuxford and Colgrave, Nottinghamshire, the manors of Preston and Stone, Somerset, and lands and estates in Wigtoft and Sutterton in parts of Holland, Lincolnshire, in consideration of the forestalling of the payment of a £284 9s ½d owed by White to the queen, accrued while a collector of the first and second payments of the subsidy granted by the laity to the queen in 1563, which White is currently unable to pay due to great loss of goods by misfortune of fire and lawsuits.
