Bargain and sale by Richard Whalley of Welbeck, Nottinghamshire, to Mary I of the manors of Whatton, Tawton [Toton], and Hawkesworth, Nottinghamshire, in consideration of £1740 of a £2240 debt to the Crown, of which £500 is already paid. The sale is voided if Whalley repays the remainder of the debt to the Exchequer. Whalley had taken on the original debt of £2240 from Sir Maurice Denys, accrued during his treasurership of Calais, in consideration of Denys granting Whalley the aforementioned manors.
