Grant by Elizabeth I to Armigill Wade [Waad] of Belsis, Middlesex, esq, of the salt marshes commonly called 'Washepitte' alias 'Wastpitte', 'Stoneridge', 'Kidlegrounde', 'William Finches Salt', and 'the Prior of Christchurch Salt' in the parishes of Lille and Bromhill [Promehill], Kent and Sussex, currently leased to Cuthbert Vaughan, esq, who has let the marshes fall into great ruin and decay from the 'rage and force of the sea' at great cost to the queen. For these salt marshes, Wade agrees to pay £80 a year for two years, after which time he will surrender a £100 annuity granted to him by Mary and pay £200 yearly. Additional commision by Elizabeth to Wade to repair the havon of Rye, Sussex, in return for the commission of sewers, with all the rewards of the aforesaid commission, paid by the city of London.
