Folios 267-268: Edmund Palmer, HMS Hebrus, Cork Harbour.
Covering letter for a letter from the widow of Mr Richard Powell, a pilot from Jersey, who has died. Powell died from a wound received in action against l'Etoile, a French frigate, and though severely wounded he had gone aboard the prize and directed it safely through the race of Alderney. His wife and two children are destitute. Note on reverse confirms that the Admiralty will pay a pension to the widow on receipt of her marriage lines.
Folios 269-270: Enclosure with folios 267-268: letter from Mrs Elizabeth Powell in Jersey, to Captain Palmer, dated 20 April 1814, asking for her husband's effects to be sent to her and enquiring about the possibility of a pension.
