Folio 221-222: James Keith Shepard, Gravesend. States the cases of John Newcombe and William Watinough. John Newcombe, aged 28, Captain's Cook was impressed on 12 August 1811 by Lieutenant Petley and Lieutenant Jordan from the Ceylon, an East Indiaman off Gravesend, and has been sent to the Nore. William Watinough, aged 21, an Apprentice, was impressed on 8 August 1811 by Lieutenant Jordan from the Brig [name?] off Gravesend. Watinough produced a Protection, but as his Indenture was dated 9 May 1808, so deduces he has been at sea for over three years and as sent hin to the Nore.
