Folios 238-239: [Robert Parker Jones?], Senior Lieutenant, HMS Cressy, Portsmouth harbour (captain on leave). Reports on the case of James Hughes, listed as run on HMS Ariel's books, now in HMS Cressy. Hughes says he was sent in a prize, in the Sleeve, in December 1809, took her to Gothenburg, thence to London where he arrived about the January following, was then sent aboard the Tower Tinder for a passage to the guard ship at Great Nore and on his arrival was sent to the Sussex Hospital Ship. The remainder of the men who came in the prize were at this time sent to their proper ships. On his return from the hospital to HMS Namur, he was sent aboard HMS Nemesis as part of the complement, despite saying he belonged to HMS Ariel, and from there came to HMS Cressy. Jones confirms that if this all appears to be correct, the man may receive the pay due to him from HMS Ariel.
