Folios 230-231: Philip Pipon, HMS Tagus, Portsmouth. Letter enclosing another letter from Lieutenant Wiliam Augustus Thomson, of HMS Tagus, and requesting their Lordships to comply with Thomson's wishes. Thomson's letter is not now enclosed, though a letter referring to it is present, see below.
Folios 232-233: Enclosure with folios 230-231. A letter dated 12 October 1813 from [?] with reference to Captain Pipon's letter and original enclosure. The letter states Lieutenant Thompson [Thomson] has been superseded at his own request on the grounds of family affairs. The writer adds that he finds no report of any misconduct while Thomson was serving in the Tagus, and that 'what he refers to in his letter' must no doubt be some private misunderstanding with Captain Pipon which probably bears the real cause of his leaving the ship.
