Folios 84-85. The Archbishop of Sailsbury to Newcastle. Concerns the petition of Mr John Palairet relating to a Poor Knight's place at Windsor. Complete with 'The Case of Palairet' a French refugee who 'has lived in England for 35 year's'. Serving in Scotland against the Pretender in 1715, he was afterwards employed by the Queen [Caroline of Ansbach] to teach her children French, writing, and accounting. Although ordered by her upon the list for £100 a year, he lost it all (as did the rest) of the teachers when the Queen of Denmark [Louise] was married.
