Description

Folios 44-45. Correspondence from Monsieur Carpentier [French agent in London since the 29 September 1746], and Captain Robinson [commissioned by Sir John Ligonier to negotiate Jacobite prisoner exchanges], written 12 February. Requesting at the eve of a prisoner exchange, that Lieutenant [John] Grey of the Royal Ecossais Regiment imprisoned at Newgate, Captain Saint-Clair of the [Irish] regiment of Rooth, the gunner Brurdin who was captured at Carlisle, and John Nisleete a soldier in the French army held on board the 'Mermaid' at Gravesend, and Aneas MacDonald clerk des guerres (amongst others) be transferred to the Marshalsea Prison.
