Description

Prisoner name: Henry Deans.

Court and date of trial: Sussex Quarter Sessions held at Lewes January 1832.

Crime: Assault on police officers at Brighton.

Initial sentence: 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour.

Annotated (Outcome): To be pardoned. Remission prepared 4 June 1832.

Petitioner(s): 7 visiting magistrates of house of correction Lewes.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Ill health; good conduct; consent of prosecutors to discharge.

Other papers: Letter forwarding petition from Kell and Son clerks to the visiting justices; surgeon's certificate by Richard Turner.
