They include building details, general site layouts, utilities, workshops, accommodation, sick quarters, stores, training theatres, bomber and fighter stations, headquarters, armouries, motor vehicle sheds and aircraft sheds. The records were used for general administrative purposes, and for repair and maintenance. Many depict RAF and Ministry of Defence facilities in Odiham, Uxbridge, Waterbeach, Chilmark, Upavon, Oakington, Catterick Garrison and several locations in York.
Plans and drawings were made in various paper types including dyeline, linen, ozalid, tracing, acetate, paper and plasticised paper.
