Crime: Highway robbery from Mary Ann Brown and Charlotte Cooper.
Initial sentence: [Death].
Annotated (Outcome): Considered at Report in Council 16 February 1825.
Petitioner(s): Two petitions. First petition from James Dewell, father of the prisoner, and undersigned by 20 others, including Mary Ann Brown, prosecutrix.
Second petition from James Dewell, the prisoner and undersigned by 17 others, including Charlotte Cooper, prosecutrix.
Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): From an honest and industrious family, youth, good character, led astray by others.
Other papers: A copy of the first petition.
Two copies of certificates from William Reeves stating that James Dewell had spent two years in his father's service and had conducted himself with honesty, industry and propriety.
