Description

Prisoner name: Levy [Levi] Abrahams.

Court and date of trial: Old Bailey December Sessions 1824.

Crime: Burglary.

Initial sentence: Death.

Annotated (Outcome): Considered at Report in Council 16 February 1825.

Petitioner(s): Levy Abrahams, the prisoner, and undersigned by Mr Fraser, the prosecutor.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): First offence, led astray by others, gave information against the other perpetrators.

Other papers: 1 December 1824 - Letter from Levy Abrahams to Mr Fraser, the prosecutor admitting his guilt and giving information on the other perpetrators.

7 December 1824 - Letter from Richard Welford concerning a robbery from Mr Moore, the chief suspects being James Lintott and Henry Durham. He details the information written by Levy Abrahams in the letter to Mr Fraser about the involvement of Lintott and Durham in the robbery at Mr Moore's residence.

10 December 1824 - Letter from the Guildhall, Bath stating that Levy Abrahams is known as a bad character.

8 February 1825 - Covering letter from [illegible] enclosing Richard Welford's letter.

8 February 1825 - letter from Levy Abrahams to Mr Capper giving details of his crime and details of his accomplices.

8 February [1825] - Note from Mr Cotton stating that the Mr Hardy from Ilchester jail stated he had not seen Levy Abrahams before.

15 February 1825 - Letter from Levy Abrahams to Mr Friedeberg requesting he intercedes on his behalf with Mr Capper.

7 March 1825 - Letter from Levy Abrahams, the prisoner, stating he is in fear of his life from other prisoners who would attack him on behalf of Henry Durham and James Lintot [Lintott].
