Description

Prisoner name: John Carter.

Prisoner occupation: Farmer.

Court and date of trial: Ely Sessions February 1823.

Crime: Stealing three sacks of beans.

Initial sentence: Transportation for 7 years.

Gaoler's report: Not known before.

Annotated (Outcome): Send to Penitentiary 3 May 1823.

Petitioner(s): D Cresswell, Trinity Cottage, who let land to the prisoner.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Led astray by others, first offence, sentence sever for crime, family dependent on his wages.
