Committee on Radioactive Waste Management: Registered Digital files

The series comprises a variety of files (in pdf and Word format) recording the work of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management. These registered files were shared within government and used as references by the committee in their reports. Document types include:

• Agendas;
• Minutes;
• Annual reports;
• Correspondence;
• E-bulletins;
• Guidelines;
• Reports;
• Public engagement and consultation papers.

The committee registered any valuable document with a number. Only files that were registered are included. This set of records was maintained by the Committee's Secretariat through considerable IT and Machinery of Government changes. A register of these documents was maintained alongside them, and this records the date of the records to good accuracy (almost all within a month). The records were in an Electronic Document and Records Management system (Docshare). They were migrated frequently, but the metadata was maintained.

References for born-digital records are automatically generated and display a 'Z' after a forward slash, which distinguish them from traditional references allocated to paper and digitised records.

The Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) provides independent scrutiny and advice to the UK governments on the long-term management of higher activity radioactive wastes. CoRWM is an advisory non-departmental public body, and is now sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the transferring body for these records.
