Description

Envelope mounted on reverse of divider card item 52 with typed caption, 'J68', containing photographic images of this Class of LNER [London and North Eastern Railway] 0-6-0T locomotives [formerly GER [Great Eastern Railway] Class C72 designed by S D Holden based on the J Holden Class S56 locomotives but most completed during the tenure of A J Hill]:

1) Cutting [from 'The Railway Magazine' September 1912], monochrome photographic image of GER locomotive No 43 in works photographic grey livery with printed caption below, 'New 0-6-0T Condensing Tank Engine Great Eastern Railway, These engines...correspond in main features with older engines [Class S56] engaged in suburban passenger traffic but are fitted with chimneys and cabs of the pattern now used for [S D Holden Class F6] 2-4-2T tank locomotives, followed by Principal Dimensions' [image 1912].

2) Cutting [from 'The Railway Magazine' July 1914 page 18], monochrome photographic image of GER locomotive No 30 with printed caption below, '0-6-0T Tank Engine for Local Goods and Shunting Service [without condensers] Great Eastern Railway Designed by Mr A J Hill Locomotive Superintendent followed by Principal Dimensions' [image 1914].

3) Monochrome postcard, LNER locomotive No 7050 [image c.1935], 9cm x 14cm.

4) Monochrome postcard published by F Moore's Railway Photographs No 10551 with manuscript caption on reverse, 'J68', LNER locomotive No 7021 [image c.1935], 9cm x 14cm.
