Folios 187-188: Charles Vinicombe Penrose, Ethy, Lostwithel, Cornwall. On arrival in England informed by Agent some papers necessary for passing accounts from 1 October 1811 to 11 January 1813 on my giving up command of HMS San Juan had been left behind at Gibraltar, and I immediately wrote for them; not until yesterday from a second letter from my agent learned that my allowance of 20 shillings per diem as Commodore had been stopped by the Commissioners of the Navy, which I concluded could not have been the case. Request their Lordships the payment of said allowance, stoppage of which has put me to great inconvenience.
