Folios 183-184: Richard Prater, Regulating Captain at Lynn, Norfolk. Joseph Rawson on being prest confessed that he had been employed with his father in the Mary and Ann between Hull and Doncaster for two years, previous to his being bound an apprentice to Thomas Hodgson in consequence of which confession I detained him for H.M. service.
Folios 185-186: Enclosure in folios 183-184: John Norman, 1 Water Lane, Tower Street, 11 March 1813. Joseph Rawson an apprentice impressed at Lynn (now on board HMS Solebay in Yarmouth Roads) could not be discharged having used the sea before being bound. I have at the urgent request of Thomas Hodgson, his master, to request their Lordships, reconsider this case, as the attached affidavit will prove that Joseph Rawson never served at sea before he was bound to his said master but that his master had a personal knowledge of him as a landsman for 3 years prior to the same. Affidavit by Thomas Hodgson, master of the Thomas and Ann of Hull, sworn on 11 March 1813.
