Folios 137-138: Joshua Latimer Rowe, Lieutenant, Bristol Naval Rendezvous. (The Regulating Captain absent on Admiralty leave). Stating the case of Jeremiah Jones, aged 20, five feet two inches, a cooper by trade, voluntarily entered at Lieutenant's Rowe Rendezvous on 3 February 1813 for H.M. Navy, he denies being an apprentice.
Folios 139-140: Enclosure: William Rees, Bristol, 24 February 1813. My apprentice Jeremiah Jones, [aged] 17 who has served four years of his apprenticeship and has three to serve having entered himself on board HMS Enchatress at Kingsroad on 3 February [1813]. I applied to Lieutenant Rowe and to Captain Peasley of HMS Enchantress who directed me to apply to your honours for an order for the boys release. I have showed his indentures to the above gentlemen who are satisfied they cannot keep the boy, but will not deliver him up until they have your order. Pleased to send me an order for the boys release. Great loss to me in my business. I carry on the trade of a cooper in this city my residence is in Nicholas Street, Bristol.
