Document type: Certificate of exemption.

This document is explicitly a certificate of exemption issued by Sir William Parkhurst, Warden of the Mint, in relation to the two subsidies granted to Charles I in 1641.

The certificate, addressed to the commissioners and collectors of this tax, states that William Wheeler of Datchet in Buckinghamshire held the office of comptroller of the Mint, and therefore was exempt from payment of such subsidies by royal letters confirmed on 23 January 1627.

The certificate was dated at the Mint on 26 November 1641.
