This document is explicitly a certificate of assessment relating to the collection in the Royal Household of the subsidy granted to Henry VIII in 1543.

The document, compiled, signed and sealed by the commissioners Sir Thomas Chenney and Sir Edmund Peckham, simply records that George Benson, the Queen's cook, was assessed for this tax at £20 in goods.

The certificate is dated 7 September 1543.
