Description

County or diocese: London.

Grant: Half a clerical tenth on unassessed benefices, Canterbury province, 1419 Nov 20; Two clerical tenths on unassessed benefices, Canterbury province, 1415 Nov 19.

Document type: Account.

Folios or pages: 1.

This document is an account rendered at the Exchequer by the abbot and convent of St. John's Abbey, Colchester, as collectors in the archdeaconries of Colchester and Essex of the second of two tenths on unassessed benefices granted to Henry V by the clergy of the province of Canterbury in the convocation that began on 18 November 1415, due to be paid on 2 February 1420, and the half a tenth, also on unassessed benefices, granted to the same king by the clergy of the same province in the convocation that began on 30 October 1419, and due to be paid also on 2 February 1420. The document is not dated, and it should have been written around the time that the taxes were due to be collected, on 2 February 1420, but a note in the upper left hand corner records that the account was examined at the Exchequer in Easter term 1420, which ended on 17 May 1420, and the document was probably written on or just before that date.

It is perfectly legible.
