This single sheet of parchment is a certificate from John, bishop of Lincoln, to the abbots and convents of Louth Park and Swineshead, as collectors in the archdeaconry of Lincoln, in the diocese of Lincoln, of the first half of the first of two tenths on assessed and unassessed benefices granted to Henry VI by the clergy of the province of Canterbury in convocation on 3 March 1453, informing them that he has excused the prior and convent of Thornholme from paying this tax on their goods, benefices and possessions in the archdeaconry, because they are diminished by much ruin. The certificate is dated 14 October 1453.
