This single parchment membrane is a letter from John, bishop of Lincoln, to the prior and convent of St. Neot. After reciting a writ from Henry VI, dated 14 July 1453, ordering the bishop to appoint collectors in his diocese of the two tenths on assessed and unassessed benefices granted to the same king by the clergy of the province of Canterbury in convocation on 3 March 1453, he appoints them to collect the first of these two tenths in the archdeaconry of Huntingdon. The letter is dated 10 September 1453.
A few chunks have been torn out of the document, but what remains is wholly legible.
