This single parchment membrane is the final membrane of a petition to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer from the collectors of a clerical tenth, probably in the archdeaconry of Northampton, in the diocese of Lincoln, asking for discharge from sums which they could not collect, together with the reasons why they could not collect them. It is undated but cites letters of the bishop of Lincoln enrolled in the Exchequer in Hilary term 1453, and therefore cannot date from before then. The hand seems a bit later, however, perhaps tempus Edward IV, but the document could have been written in the late fifteenth century.
It is wholly legible.
