This document is a schedule of exemptions for an unidentified clerical tenth, from the script, probably dating from the mid to late fifteenth century, for the diocese of Hereford.
The document has suffered extensive damage and very little of the text is legible, even under ultra-violet light.
The first section appears to contain a list of benefices in the diocese to be exempted from collection of the tax, and the second, on the dorse, consists of a list of property, mostly of religious houses, also to be exempted.
This list is slightly clearer than the text on the face of the document, but no place-names have been indexed.
Readers are advised to consult documents such as E 179/30/65B, E 179/30/70 or E 179/30/79 for much more legible lists of exemptions, probably similar to those which once appeared in the present document.
