Description

County or diocese: Hereford.

Grant: Two clerical tenths from Canterbury province, 1414 Oct 20.

Document type: Instruction to collectors.

Folios or pages: 1.

This document contains the instructions of Robert [Mascall], bishop of Hereford, for the abbot and convent of Wigmore to collect the second of two clerical tenths granted to Henry V in 1414, in the archdeaconry of Salop, in the diocese of Hereford.

This document is in good condition and is legible; it was clearly once filed on a thong with other documents, as there is a hole for the thong near to the top left-hand corner.

The document is dated at the bishop's London household and notes that the property of hospitallers and poor religious in the archdeaconry, together with a list of benefices in the Marches of Wales which had been destroyed, were to be exempted.
