This file comprises two documents, written in the same hand on the same day.
The first membrane is a certificate sent to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer by Philip Morgan, bishop of Ely, informing them of the appointment of collectors in the diocese of Ely of each of the three payments of the three-quarters of a tenth granted to Henry VI by the clergy of the province of Canterbury in the convocation that assembled at St. Paul's, London, on 7 November 1433.
The first payment was to be collected by the prior and convent of the cathedral priory of Ely, the second payment was to be collected by abbot and convent of Thorney, and the third payment was to be collected by the prior and convent of Barnwell.
The certificate recites the king's commission to the bishop to appoint collectors of the tax, dated 12 January 1435.
It is dated 29 April 1435.
The second membrane, sewn to the first, lists the names of benefices not liable to pay the tax because they were valued at less than 12 marks per annum.
