Folios 508-509.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: Richard Hooton, Green Lane, Tue Brook, Liverpool [Lancashire].
Subject Matter: Letter, on behalf of himself and many of his neighbours, applying for intervention in the case of Tue Brook, an open brook which runs through his neighbourhood. He submits that the houses drain directly into the brook and 'the effluvia arising therefrom is almost constantly as offensive as any common sewer in the Kingdom'. He states that 'petition after petition' has been presented to the West Derby Local Board to no avail, and as an outbreak of fever at Bootle is daily getting closer to the neighbourhood, he asks that the Local Board is compelled to take action.
