To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: Messrs Radcliffe and Layton, Clerks to the Local Board of West Derby [Lancashire].
Subject Matter: Letter asking whether the Local Board is required to appoint an Officer of Health pursuant to Section 4 of the Artizans and Labourers Dwellings Act 1868.
They submit that the Local Board employ an Inspector of Nuisances or Sanitary Inspector at an annual salary of £140 and 'he is said to be a most efficient officer'. They ask whether this person can also be appointed Officer of Health.
