Folios 474-477.
To: The Home Secretary.
From: Robert Rawlinson, Superintending Inspector, The Local Government Act Office.
Subject Matter: Report on an application from the Local Board of West Derby [Lancashire] to be allowed to borrow £1200 for main sewerage works.
He reports that plans showing the position of the intended works have been submitted, showing that the outlet for the new sewer will be on the River Alt at Stone Bridge and thence to the sea.
He expresses hope that eventually all the sewage of Liverpool and the surrounding districts will be utilised for agricultural purposes.
He states that the rateable value of the West Derby District is £131,290 and the Local Board's total sanctioned borrowing is £42,885.
The public works already undertaken by the Local Board have, he submits, been of great benefit and added more than their corresponding value to property and land in the District.
He recommends that sanction is given to the loan of £1200 to be repaid over 30 years.
