Folios 461-463.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: Messrs Radcliffe and Layton, Clerks to the Local Board of West Derby [Lancashire].
Subject Matter: Letter regarding the eligibility of Richard Radcliffe to remain a member of the Local Board. They enclose a copy of an assent to a deed by which Radcliffe conveyed his property to Ambrose Lace, Henry Thomson, and Henry Lafone as trustees for his creditors.
They state that Radcliffe's term of office is due to expire on 6 April 1868. They add that Radcliffe has complied with the terms of the Bankruptcy Act 1861, has moved out of the house he owned, and is now a tenant in a smaller adjoining house.
They explain that Radcliffe has been nominated to fill a vacancy at the forthcoming annual election of members of the Local Board, and such nominations have now closed. They submit that Radcliffe is not currently listed in the rate book as an occupier but he will be when his house is rated again next year.
They ask whether Radcliffe's name can go forward as a candidate in the election.
