Folios 41-43.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: J W Shufflebotham, Masonic Chambers, Warrington [Lancashire].
Subject Matter: Letter regarding a number of houses he designed for Thomas Owen which are in the course of construction. He submits that the plans were approved by the Local Board but their Surveyor now objects due to an interpretation of the Local Board's 12th bye law specifying that each house must have 150 [square] feet of clear space at its rear. He submits that the Surveyor still disputes this despite having admitted that each house possesses 215 [square] feet.
He explains that the Surveyor's proposal would force either ten inches to be removed from a back passage, making it unsuitable for any domestic purposes, or from kitchens and bedrooms 'which will make them a miserable affair'.
