To: Edward Strick, Clerk pro tem to the Swansea Local Board of Health, Swansea [Glamorganshire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Subject Matter: Draft letter answering queries contained in a letter of 9 September 1850. It is firstly advised that it is not imperative for a Local Board in a Corporate District to appoint as their Clerk the Town Clerk, although it may be desirable for reasons of economy and convenience. It is stated that the General Board's current Assistant Secretary, Mr Taylor, is a barrister and is willing to provide legal advice and information to Local Boards. The Local Board are advised that they may employ any of the General Board's Superintending Inspectors as a Consulting Engineer at their own expense. Finally, it is stated that all reports of the General Board, and all information on subjects in connection with the Public Health Act 1848, will be sent to Local Boards.
