Folios 74-75.
To: The General Board of Health.
From: Edward Strick, Clerk to the Commissioners of the Swansea Paving and Lighting Act, Swansea [Glamorganshire].
Subject Matter: Letter drawing attention to a discussion he had, when he recently called on the General Board, on the relationship between Swansea's local Act and the Public Health Act 1848.
He explains that some in Swansea contend that the Town Clerk must be appointed to be Clerk to the Local Board. He states that he is currently Clerk to the Paving and Lighting Commissioners under the local Act, but his office is abolished by the application of the Public Health Act 1848 in Swansea, and he expects to be appointed Clerk to the Local Board instead. He asks the General Board to write a line stating that the Local Board are not required to appoint the Town Clerk as their Clerk, but can make their own appointment.
He states that the Paving Commissioners are to meet the Local Board to hand over their trust next Wednesday, and asks for a reply so that he can be prepared by that time.
