Folios 34-35.
To: The General Board of Health.
From: W H Smith, Swansea [Glamorganshire].
Subject Matter: Letter advising that he is not aware of any steps that have been taken to facilitate the forthcoming local inquiry at Swansea, to be held on 21 May 1849, other than a resolution passed by the Town Council that the Mayor should take steps to gather such evidence as is considered necessary.
He states that he has prepared documents, lists of places where contagious diseases are usually prevalent, and statistical tables which he thinks will be relevant to the inquiry. He supplies the names of individuals who would be willing to give evidence to the inquiry, including G G Bird MD, J G Hall, Surgeon to the Infirmary, and eight others.
He submits that the objects of the inquiry would be better facilitated if printed questions were sent in advance to those competent enough to give information.
