'Oil painting by Gustave Dorè. Size about 6 feet 5 inches by 4 feet 3¼ inches. Entitled 'The Night of the Crucifixion', representing in a part of Jerusalem numerous groups of figures discussing the Crucifixion and events which had just taken place. The three crosses are seen in a bright light on a distant hill'.
