Captured ship: Le Triton (Tryton) (master Mathieu Sauvage).
History: a French merchant ship from St Domingue, West Indies.
Documents: allegation; examinations; ship's papers; attestation as to state of cargo; bills of lading; and two bundles of [opened] letters for onward delivery in France.
Attestation apparently exhibited by Tyndall in the case, that Timothy Brett, of the Navy Office has received by the general post, a letter alleging, what he believes to be true, that a certain box contains all 'the insignificant papers' of the St Marc (master Pierre Vausanges); the relevance of this to the Triton case is not obvious (but see HCA 32/224/14)
