Captured ship: La Marie Esther de la Rochelle (master François Rullier or François Reullié).
History: a French merchant ship on voyage from Port-au-Prince, St Domingue, to La Rochelle, captured along with L'Aimable Julie (Antoine Gaudriq) by the British privateer Anson, captain Robert Wapshutt, on 2 August 1756 and taken into Bristol. Formerly Le Comte d'Estree.
Documents: allegation; examinations; ship's papers; notebook, one end of which is a cargo book, recording cargo loaded with merchants' marks, other end of book records crew musters, expenses etc wallet containing letters and papers; c 40 personal and business letters for onward delivery; collection of c 20 letters belonging to the master, Rullier. Also, one letter apparently marked as carried by L'Egyptien, Jacques Massé master, but more probably from La Marie Esther
