Description

Summary: Account book of the estates of sequestered estates in Buckinghamshire. 14 ff. Including an order made at the council held at Aylesbury on 30 September 1644 that goods belonging to the Countess of Devonshire [Elizabeth Cavendish], seized as part of her husband's estate be returned to her (f.12).

Sequestrator: Alexander Blackgroves.

Place: Buckinghamshire.

Estate Owners: All Souls College, Oxford; Dean and Chapter of Windsor; Earl of Devonshire [William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire]; Mr Hanford.

Tenants: 16 named tenants including Sir John Parsons and 3 women of which 2 are widows.

Note: Incorrectly identified on cover as account for Berkshire. Sequestrator Alexander Blackgroves may also be incorrect because the sequestrator for all other Buckinghamshire accounts is Sir William Russell. Possible that wrong cover was attached to the account at some stage.
